Information You Choose to Send
A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that powers the tool. We do not store or log those search terms on our own systems. The provider may collect, use, or retain the request under its own privacy terms, so review those terms before submitting information.
If you send an email or contact message, we keep the content and return address as needed to read and answer it. We do not use a message to obtain a Pontotoc County release record on your behalf. Messages are not shared outside the organization unless a lawful requirement applies or a service is needed to deliver and secure the communication.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Normal site operations may create a technical log when a page loads. This information supports delivery, security, diagnosis, and traffic measurement. It is not the county jail docket, an MDOC record, or a court file.
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent
- Referring site, when supplied
- Date and time stamps
Cookies and similar storage can help measure how visitors move through the site. Browser controls can block or remove them. Some functions, partner tools, or preferences may then work in a different way.
How Information Supports the Site
Collected data is used to deliver pages, keep the service stable, route a requested search to the selected partner, learn which material visitors use, detect faults, prevent abuse, and improve performance. Advertising may also be selected with the aid of activity or interest signals handled by an advertising provider.
We do not turn technical logs into an official statement about a person's custody or release. Pontotoc County Sheriff records, court orders, MDOC files, and other agency sources remain separate. Mississippi public access to government records is governed in part by the Mississippi Public Records Act, Miss. Code ยง 25-61-1 et seq.; that law does not convert site analytics into a county record.
Privacy Beyond Our Links
Links may lead to the Pontotoc County Sheriff, court clerks, MDOC, SAVIN or VINELink, BOP, ICE, public-record portals, and third-party search services. Each destination sets its own privacy and data-handling rules. This notice stops governing once a visitor leaves this site or submits data directly to another service.
Advertising partners may use their own cookies or identifiers to measure ads and activity across more than one website. That tracking occurs through their systems. Browser privacy tools and the partner's published controls may offer ways to limit it.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may reach service providers when needed to operate a feature or meet a valid legal duty.
- Search partners that process a query submitted to their tool
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that serve or assess ads
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
A recipient's own rules govern its later use and retention. We do not control the records held by the Pontotoc County jail, the Circuit Clerk, MDOC, or any federal locator.
Security Has Practical Limits
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information in our control. Internet-connected systems still carry risk. No method of transmission, storage, or access control is breach-proof, and we cannot promise absolute security.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian who believes a minor sent information may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Requests
Subject to applicable law and the limits of the data we hold, a visitor may ask for access, correction, deletion, or a restriction on certain processing. A request may require enough information to verify the person making it. We cannot alter search-partner files or official Pontotoc County and Mississippi government records.
- Ask for a copy of personal data we maintain
- Correct inaccurate contact information
- Request deletion of eligible data
- Object to or opt out of certain processing
Requests about an official jail, court, corrections, VINE, BOP, or ICE record must go to the office that holds that record.
